For right sidebar ,In overall_footer.html before </body>, I used
Code

     </td>
         <td width="150" align="right" valign="top" class="bodyline">
            <table width="150" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#CC0099">
                     <tr>
                       <td><font color="#FFFFFF" size="1" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><A HREF="http://www.myhpf.co.uk/banner.asp?friend=327056" target =_blank>
<IMG SRC="http://www.myhpf.co.uk/banners/600x120.gif" BORDER="0">
</A>
</font></td>
                     </tr>
                   </table>
         </td>
         </tr>
      </table>

For Left Sidebar ,In overall_header.html after <body id="phpbb" class="section-{SCRIPT_NAME} {S_CONTENT_DIRECTION}">, I used

Code
<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
         <tr>
         <td width="150" align="left" valign="top" class="bodyline">
            <table width="150" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#0000CC">
                     <tr>
                     <td><font color="#FFFFFF" size="1" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> <a href="http://www.guitartips.com.au/cgibin/affiliates/click.cgi?id=1641&url=http://www.elmore-music.com/drums/uds" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.guitartips.com.au/affiliateimages/drums-120x600.jpg" width="120" height="600" border="0"></a>
     </font></td>
                      </tr>
                    </table>

And its working well in my another forum.Its great to serve your ads in phpbb3 forum now. Just remove the ad codes
